Civil Engineering

Civil engineering is perhaps one of the oldest branches of engineering and primarily deals with the design, construction, and maintenance of the physical and naturally built environment. Advances in this area have brought many specializations like Structural engineering, Geotechnical engineering, Water Resources & Hydraulics engineering, Transportation engineering, Urban engineering, Materials engineering. The students normally have a conceptual understanding of space and its utilization. The focus of the program is in developing fluency in mathematics, physics, instrumentation, computers, management and economics. Civil engineers focus on design, construction and maintenance of structures.

Vision:

Committed to serve the society at the centre of excellence in civil engineering through quality professional education and to create eminent leaders.

Mission:

To inspire and transform the students to hard core professionals with ethical values. To deal with the contemporary issues and to cater to social needs. To transform the department into centre of excellence in the field of civil engineering and allied research.

Labs with modern machineries make this course useful for students in becoming good civil engineers.

ENGINEERING MECHANICS LAB (2029)

Engineering mechanics lab mainly deals with the identification of force systems by applying the basics of mechanics. It enables us to determine the unknown forces of different engineering systems. It helps us to determine and understand the strain and coefficient of friction through experimentation. Moment of inertia and center of gravity can be determined by using fly wheel and shaft. Main equipments used in this lab are: Force table Jib crane Simply supported beam Bell crank lever Fly wheel and shaft

CAD Lab (3019)

Computer Aided Design and Drafting lab mainly deals with accurate and perfect drawings of engineering designs. The drawing of plan, section and elevation of buildings ( single and multistoried) , machine parts, isometric views, assembly works are possible using AutoCAD. The package is suitable for 2D and 3D drawings. SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS SYSTEM MEMORY Min 512 MB, 2 GB Recommended HARDWARE CONFIGURATION INTEL CORE-i3-4130 @3.4 GHz : 2 GB RAM OPERATING SYSTEM Windows 8 Pro

Computer Application Lab (5019)

Deals with various softwares used in engineering industry such as Autocad, STAAD PRO, MS PROJECT, REVIT ARCHITECTURE, MS EXCEL etc. Computer Aided Design and Drafting lab mainly deals with accurate and perfect drawings of engineering designs. ENVIRONMENTAL ENGINEERING LAB (6012)

Environmental engineering lab introduce students to how to determine the physical and chemical characteristics of water by the application of basic chemistry and chemical calculations to measure physical, chemical . This lab help us to deduce the ph, turbidity, suspended solid, dissolved solids, and total solids of given sample of water.

CONCRETE TECHNOLOGY LAB

Concrete technology lab mainly deals with the determination of properties of cement by vicat apparatus, BIS 9 sieve , etc. it helps to determine properties of coarse and fine aggregate. It determines the properties of fresh.

CONSTRUCTION MATERIALS LAB

Prime objective of construction materials lab is to provide the students with a broad understanding of various forms of brick bonding available for construction of brick masonry wall and to provide hands-on experience for the students with the construction materials by performing masonry construction, plumbing, wiring and painting activities.
